time flying

If you can imagine 16 adults and 9 kids under the age of 3 all under one roof, you can image what our Canada Day BBQ was like. Spent the morning cleaning then spent the evening cleaning. Despite that, it was a fun day but one that I can only do once (or twice) per year - for very obvious reasons, you'll have to agree.

So, here's some things I've learned from the experience:

  1. Plan a party on a Saturday or Sunday of a long weekend. Getting up the next morning to go to work is brutal after an evening of cleaning house.

  2. Buy multiple hand-held bubble making devices - it helps to keep tears and "not ready to share" scenarios to a minimum.

  3. Ensure all available "drawing" instruments are of the washable variety.

  4. Tie down or bolt down collapsible playhouses so curious toddlers don't discover the joys of tent toppling.

  5. The threat of toddler jail works magic for little ones under 3.

  6. Corn on the cob are instant hits for kids of all ages!

  7. Always eat ice-cream and Popsicles outdoors.

Nevertheless, it was a great weekend spent with friends, which I'm sure there will be many more "events" and much more learnings in our lifetime. It amazes me that just 3 years ago, summer weekends were spent so much differently. Boy, has time flown by so quickly!

Here's some photos of the event by our gracious photographer Daddy D.
